How to Request Books

Although the Law Library is open, our bookshelves are currently closed, so requesting items for pickup is the only way to access our books. Current Gould students, faculty and staff may request Law Library books for pickup. 

Instructions for Requesting an Item

  1. Search for the book you want in the search bar in ADVOCAT, the Law Library's catalog.
  2. After confirming item details, click the Request it button located to the right of the title. You will be taken to the Law Library Account login page.

  1. Enter your name and USC ID Number. If your USC ID Number is invalid, please email
  2. Once you have logged in, select and enter a deadline date. Please note that requests may take up to 48 - 72 hours.
  3. After confirming details, click Submit.
  4. Click OK to finalize your request.

By requesting a title, you are placing a hold on the title. Once the Law Library receives your request, your book should be ready within 48 - 72 hours. If there is a problem with your request, the Law Library will contact you via email. If you need a title sooner than 48 hours, please email Materials can be picked up near the front entrance of the library.
