USC Law Library Information

Additional Resources for Online Books

The Library can attempt to borrow both physical and digital materials, but you may also be able to find some online materials yourself.  Feel free to contact a librarian at for any research needs.

If you are looking for class materials, don't forget to check our extensive collections of online study aids. We have outlines, summaries, flash cards, and more.

Consider trying the following resources if you are having trouble accessing print-based materials, and check this page for updates, as the situation changes rapidly:

  • HathiTrust has scanned versions of many print items. To log in, select University of Southern California from the drop-down menu, and then enter your USC (Blackboard) login credentials.

  • Some public libraries also offer abundant online resources. The Los Angeles Public Library has many digital books, databases and other resources, for example. You will probably need an existing library card to use a public library's digital resources.
  • Google Books offers searchable pages and limited previews of many books. Some or all of the pages you need may be available.
  • Amazon offers previews of some books. While full-text may not be available, title pages and tables of contents often are.
