How to Reserve a Library Study Room (Graduate Law Students and Gould Faculty and Staff Only)

By making a reservation or using a study room, you are agreeing to abide by all rules, as well as the Library Code of Conduct.

Law Library study rooms are for graduate law students only (and Gould law faculty and staff). Non-Gould individuals and undergraduates majoring in Legal Studies should consider reservable spaces in the USC Libraries.

All study rooms are inside the library. You must enter the library on the second floor to access them--even the third-floor rooms.

To make a reservation:

  • Important: Our new study room reservation system uses a different, two-step process to choose the full length of your reservation. You must first click a green square in the grid for your start time, and then use the dropdown menu at the bottom of the page to select your end time. If you do not complete both of these steps, your reservation will automatically default to only 15 minutes.
  • Go to the study rooms reservation page and follow the instructions on the page.

Remember:

  • You must leave your USC ID card at the library Service Counter to pick up the room key.
  • If you need to schedule recurring TA/fellow office hours or other reservations requiring assistance, email us, and we can place the reservation for you. Email us before 5:00 p.m. for same-day reservations.
  • You can use an unoccupied room without a reservation. Just drop off your ID at the Service Counter in exchange for the key. If someone reserves the room, they will ask you to leave.
  • If you have not arrived for your reseration within 15 minutes of its start time, your reservation is subject to cancellation.

Study Room Rules

By using or reserving a study room, you are agreeing to abide by the following rules, as well as the Library Code of Conduct

  • Law Library study rooms are for graduate law students only (and Gould law faculty and staff). Non-Gould individuals and undergraduates majoring in Legal Studies should consider reservable spaces in the USC Libraries.
  • For special requests, such as TA office hours or student organization / affinity group meetings, please email the library, and we can make the reservation for you.
  • You may reserve up to a total of three hours per day in one or two reservations.
  • Reservations may be made up to two weeks in advance.
  • All study rooms close fifteen minutes before the library closes. If a conflict exists between a reservation time and this policy, this policy takes priority. Always check the library's hours before making a reservation.
  • Study rooms are locked; you will leave your USC ID card at the library's Service Counter in exchange for the key.
  • You may use an unreserved, unoccupied room without a reservation until someone reserves it. Ask for an available room at the Service Counter, drop off your ID, and we'll give you the key. If you are using a room without a reservation, be aware that someone could reserve the room at any time and ask you to leave.
  • If you have already reserved three hours in one day, you cannot reserve more time, but you may use an unreserved room until someone else reserves it.
  • If you have not arrived by fifteen minutes after the scheduled start time, your reservation may be canceled.
  • Abuse or repeated violations of library or study room rules may result in suspension of study room privileges and other possible consequences.
  • For questions, please email us.
